Privacy policy
Updated 3 October 2026. Friba is designed to collect as little personal data as possible: there is no sign-up, no email address and no real name.
What is stored on the server
- Your player account: a random identifier, the nickname you choose and a friend code. The game creates it automatically.
- Game data: rounds with their throw logs, statistics, achievements, practice records, your disc bag and the guest players you create on your device.
- Devices: a device name you can set (for example "Phone") and the date it was last seen. Device keys are stored only as a cryptographic hash.
- Friends: friend requests and friendships, challenges and in-game notifications.
- Google sign-in (optional): if you link a Google account, we store only a hash of its account identifier. Google's sign-in window also shows your name and email address, but Friba does not store them.
What is not stored
No email address, real name, location or advertising identifiers. Our server does not log IP addresses. Game settings stay on your device.
Why
The data is used only to run the game's online features: keeping your progress across devices, friends, challenges and results. The legal basis is the performance of the service you use (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
Service providers
- Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany): the server, located in the EU.
- Cloudflare, Inc. (USA): network traffic and encrypted backups. Cloudflare processes IP addresses to deliver and protect the traffic. Backups are stored in the EU. Transfers to the United States rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.
- Google: only if you choose to link a Google account.
How long
Until you delete your account. Challenges expire after 30 days; your own rounds remain in your history.
Your rights
In the game, under Settings → Account (Asetukset → Tunnus), you can download all your data and delete your account and its data from the server. You can also contact us to use your other rights (access, rectification, restriction, objection) or lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Finland, the Data Protection Ombudsman, tietosuoja.fi).
